Another component of the cemetery’s mythology is the legend of “Wooly Booger,” described as either a Bigfoot-like creature or a revenant linked to a supposed family tragedy involving a man who murdered relatives before taking his own life. Although historians suggest these stories evolved from misinterpretations of names on old headstones and oral exaggeration, the tale remains a central feature of the site’s supernatural identity. Reports and local accounts describe a wide range of anomalous experiences attributed to the cemetery environment. Visitors have claimed to observe unexplained lights, hear distant screams or unusual noises, and encounter shadow-like figures moving between graves. Some investigators and local explorers have described sightings of human-shaped apparitions, including a young girl in white or robed figures allegedly performing nocturnal rituals before vanishing into the surrounding woods. Additional claims include sensations of being watched, sudden feelings of unease, and the recurring legend of a phantom structure or house appearing in fog and disappearing by daylight. Occasional reports also reference a haunted dwelling deep within the woods and alleged occult gatherings that contributed to the site’s mystique during the late twentieth century.
