Are “Digital Ghosts” Real? How AI Is Changing Paranormal Investigations

The paranormal world has always relied on personal experiences, eyewitness accounts, and unexplained evidence but something is changing. We may be entering a new era of hauntings… one driven by technology. Artificial intelligence is now being used in paranormal investigations to analyze EVP recordings, enhance video footage, and detect anomalies that the human eye or ear might miss. For the first time, investigators have tools that can strip away background noise, identify patterns, and challenge evidence in ways that weren’t possible before. But that raises a serious question: If AI removes all logical explanations… what happens to the evidence that remains? At the same time, another phenomenon is emerging what some are calling “digital ghosts.” With enough data, AI can now simulate voices, personalities, and even conversations of people who have passed away. These aren’t spirits in the traditional sense, but they can feel eerily real. So where do we draw the line? Is interacting with an AI recreation of someone truly different from attempting to communicate with a spirit through EVP or other methods? Or are we creating something entirely new something that only mimics the paranormal? The rise of technology has also changed how hauntings are experienced. Investigations are now livestreamed. Evidence is shared instantly. Communities from around the world collaborate, analyze, and debate cases in real time. The paranormal is no longer just personal it’s becoming collective. And yet, despite all this advancement, the core mystery remains. Are we getting closer to proving the existence of the paranormal… or are we just getting better at explaining it away?

From a personal standpoint i believe that AI is actually causing more harm than good. People are now more than ever easily able to fake Ghost videos, photos, etc and make them look so real it hard now to tell if it is real or fake. This harms credible research and research in General.
